Service Description: Group exercise and falls prevention classes for older adults and people with mobility issues and chronic conditions * aims to improve strength and balance to prevent injury and falls

Classes are instructed by trained staff and volunteer instructors.

There are 2 levels of classes:

Level 1
  • offered in community and retirement settings
  • designed for those with a moderate level of ability who live with a chronic illness such as diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis
  • class is a mix of both standing and seated components

Level 2
  • offered in community settings
  • designed for those with a moderate to vigorous level of ability
  • provides the option to participate at a higher level of intensity

SMART Program Volunteers - Senior fitness instructor courses and ongoing training and education * contact the office about becoming a SMART volunteer fitness instructor
