Service Description: Oversees the provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004

These acts grant individuals the right of access to government held records, the right to protection of personal information held by the government (provincial and local government organizations) and the right to request access to/correction of personal health information in the custody or under the control of a health information custodian * anyone not satisfied with a government decision about access to information may ask the IPC to review the decision * investigates complaints from individuals who feel the government has wrongfully collected, used, or disclosed their personal information * the Commissioner reports directly to the Legislative Assembly
